Is it worth to continue writing?

After 9 months, I feel the same way I wrote the article I lost the war also about publishing articles. The social media, YouTube, and even blog posts are full of information about things I work on. Perhaps in different ways, but we tech people know how to work with a given available information and modify it accordingly. What added value would I be able to bring?

Little information was available on the Internet when I started writing publications and articles. Plus, I always valued sharing information because I thought it was a way to give back to the community. I truly appreciate the spirit of open source and sharing information. I still do.

But I think social media fueled a flood of information and it’s like being in a local market where wins who shouts the most. The same applies to local meetups, where it feels like a race to who is “cooler”.

And the real Tara doesn’t like the spotlight. I did participate in conferences and interviews. Yes, that is true, and I did that in the spirit of sharing. But that doesn’t mean I like it.

I don’t want to impress people. I just want to express myself and have a meaningful conversation with other tech people. I don’t want to feel the race. It’s unwanted pressure and not why I wanted to do it in the first place. And believe me, it’s easy to be tempted by the spotlight. Been there, done that.

I wonder if continuing a public blog with my updates or even publications with my discoveries is worth. In the end, I post from time to time on Mastodon about tech stuff.

Watch out for this space. Who knows if I will change my mind. Just in case, follow me on LinkedIn, Mastodon, and Twitter (if it survives).
